Kate Griffiths

Kate Griffiths is a textiles graduate who has worked for designers and artists as well as delivering creative workshops to young people and families. Inspired by nature, wilderness and the ocean she continues to build her own practice in ceramics and textiles, making beautiful functional pieces. Her lifelong passion for making has led her to facilitate others creativity, and she enjoys sharing these experiences as much as working on her own designs.

Kate will be facilitating workshops with a local group at Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre to create a large-scale installation for the Leicester Textiles Festival. They will be weaving using sticks and yarn as well as strips of coloured fabric, and Kate hopes that this will also include pieces of unwanted textiles that the group bring to the workshops. While they work on the installation, the group will be asked to consider their own memories and feelings relating to their pieces of fabric as they weave it into their work.
